Our Flatbeds
Eagle Leasing offers four flatbed configurations for all your hauling needs:
1. Standard Flatbed Trailers
When you need to load oversize cargo or don’t have a dock handy, the open flatbed allows for crane loading and side loading. It’s an option for general freight operators and anyone moving machinery. It’s also a popular choice for construction companies and contractors moving building materials, steel, lumber or concrete. Towing truck companies can use our trailers to expand their fleet of flatbed tow trucks.
These two-axle trailers have a weight capacity of 48,000 pounds, lengths of 36′ to 53′ and a width of 8′ 6″. Check your local Eagle Leasing location for current inventory.
2. Drop Deck Trailers
Also known as step deck or single drop trailers, these two-axle 40′ to 53′ trailers have a width of 8′ 6″ and a weight capacity of 43,000 pounds, though exact dimensions vary by model. They are ideal for tall cargo, and operators often use them to haul machinery, vehicles, equipment and agricultural machines that exceed standard flatbed height clearance limits.
If you have long cargo, a drop deck trailer offers more vertical space. Step decks can also work with removable gooseneck (RGN) loading and for situations where you need low clearance to carry oversize loads under bridges or overpasses.
3. Double Drop Deck Trailers
Also known as lowboys, these trailers are used for hauling long equipment, especially when the machinery needs to be craned or driven from ground level. They let you haul vehicles and tall machinery without worrying about how to get the machinery onto the truck, allowing you to expand your flatbed tow truck services.
Lowboys can also accommodate bulldozers, excavators, cranes and other heavy equipment that is too tall for either flatbed or single drop trailers. Our two-axle double drop deck trailers typically range from 40′ to 53′ in length, with an 11′ top deck, a width of 8′ 6″ and a weight capacity of 43,000 pounds. Contact Eagle Leasing to find out about our current trailer inventory.
4. Extendable Trailers
Our extendable trailers are the solution for operators moving long loads where overhang is a safety problem or an additional DOT permit is required. This type can eliminate or reduce overhang for structural steel, pipes, lumber, wind turbine components and other cargo.
Some extendable trailers can accommodate loads up to 80′ or 90′ long. Operators use them for bridge components, rebar and similar needs. Extendable trailers are also an option if you cannot confirm the length of the cargo you are transporting until the last minute.
The Benefits of Our Flatbed Trailers for Rent and Lease
Eagle Leasing rentals come with advantages other flatbed companies can’t match:
- Removable headboards: Most units feature removable headboards, making loading and unloading of oversize freight simpler. For most loads, keeping headboards in place provides more options for securing the load. For large and unusually sized cargo, removing the headboard offers more options for positioning items without overhang.
- Spring ride and air ride options: Available on many of our flatbed trailers, air ride is an option for delicate cargo, providing a smoother ride. Choose a spring ride for your heavy machinery and where high weight capacity matters.
- Optional camber: The small upward bend in an axle, usually called an axle camber, improves tire life and stability by keeping trailers riding straight with heavy loads. Eagle Leasing offers trailers with camber for your heaviest cargo and no camber for lighter loads and frequent empty returns. Unless you are hauling heavy items, choose no camber to prevent uneven tire edge wear.
- Standard dock height on all flatbeds: Our flatbed trailers for lease align with the typical semi trailer bed height, making them easier to unload and load without additional accessories. Save time and minimize safety risks with this feature, which makes it easier for forklifts and pallet jacks to move between the trailer and the warehouse without slowing down or needing to use ramps.
