What’s the difference between a 96 inch and 102 inch wide trailer?

96 inch wide trailers (8 feet) are an older standard, and some older facilities — especially older dock doors — are sized for them. 102 inch wide trailers (8.5 feet) are the current standard and give you about 6 extra inches of interior width, which meaningfully bumps up pallet capacity. Most new freight operations use 102s.
